New York Liberty Secures Convincing Win Over Chicago Sky

The New York Liberty secured a convincing 85-66 win over the Chicago Sky on Tuesday night, with Nyara Sabally making a significant impact in her return to action. The talented young forward started for the team and delivered a season-high nine points on perfect 4-for-4 shooting from the field, while also contributing three rebounds, one assist, and one steal in around 15 minutes of play.

Sabally’s impressive performance marked a welcome return to form after missing six games due to a knee injury. Prior to Tuesday’s game, she had received treatment with a platelet-rich plasma injection and had returned to practice last week. Coach Sandy Brondello was full of praise for Sabally’s efforts, stating that she "looked great" and was "consistently good every time she got minutes."

Despite Sabally’s strong showing, Jonquel Jones sat out the game with a sprained ankle but was available for warm-ups. His status is currently day-to-day, and he will be re-evaluated before Saturday’s game against Indiana at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Notable Performances from the Liberty Bench

In addition to Sabally’s performance, the Liberty bench unit also had notable contributions during their win over the Chicago Sky:

  • Kennedy Burke continued his strong form off the bench with 15 points on impressive shooting statistics:

    • 6-of-8 from the field (75%)
    • 3-of-3 from beyond three-point range (100%)
  • Breanna Stewart added another double-double to her record, along with four assists.

  • Betnijah Laney contributed eight points offensively.
