Toronto Police are searching for five suspects linked to multiple distraction theft and fraud cases across the city. Between October 9, 2024, and February 28, 2025, there were five reported incidents involving distraction theft and fraud.
Modus Operandi
In each case, the suspects approached elderly victims while they were using ATMs. The victims reported being approached by one of four individuals who pretended to be lost tourists or asked for help with their phones. While the victim was distracted, another suspect would steal their bank card. The victims often realized the theft only later when checking their accounts online or receiving notifications about unusual activity.
After each theft, the suspects allegedly used the stolen bank cards to withdraw money from the victims’ accounts.
Suspect Descriptions
Police have released descriptions of four of the suspects:

Suspect One:
- Age: 35-50 years
- Height: 5’8" to 7’1" (173 cm to 181 cm)
- Appearance: Dark-colored hair and a beard
- Last seen wearing: Black pants with white stripes down the sides and black sneakers that appeared new or lightly used.

- Age: Approximately 30-38 years
- Height: 5’7" to 7’1"
- Appearance: Medium build, dark-colored hair, goatee beard, and mustache
- Last seen wearing: Black pants with white stripes down the sides and black sneakers that appeared new or lightly used.

- Age: 30-45 years
- Height: 5’10" to 6’2"
- Appearance: Dark-colored hair and a full beard
- Last seen wearing: Black pants with white stripes down the sides and shiny black shoes that looked like new sneakers.

Suspect Four:
- Age: Mid-to-late twenties
- Height: At least 6’3"
- Appearance: Long blonde hair
- Last seen wearing: A light blue jacket over a white sweater and blue jeans.

Police have released photos in connection with these investigations. Anyone who recognizes any of these individuals is urged not to approach them but to contact the police immediately at 416-808-2222.
