Historic Mother’s Day Home Run

Josh Jung made history on Mother’s Day by hitting a two-run homer against his brother Jace, who played for the Detroit Tigers. This rare occurrence took place during their three-game series at Comerica Park in Detroit.

Family Excitement

Mary Jung, Josh and Jace’s mother, was in attendance throughout the series. She expressed her excitement beforehand, stating:

"I’m super excited" about seeing both of her sons play together in one place.

Mary also mentioned that it would be "a big deal" if Josh hit a home run.

Special Moments

Before Sunday’s game, Mary delivered the game ball to the mound and was joined by her sons on the field as Josh took batting practice. The brothers’ parents received jerseys from their children prior to the game—half in Texas blue and half in Detroit white. Their mom had already purchased a similar jersey.

Notable Achievement

The Elias Sports Bureau notes that this was not an isolated incident. According to them, this was the first home run by a player facing his brother’s team on Mother’s Day since at least 1969.
