Sentencing of Kansas City Chiefs Superfan for Bank Robbery

Xavier Babudar, a 30-year-old man known for his enthusiasm at Kansas City Chiefs games, was sentenced to 32 years in prison for bank robbery in Oklahoma. This sentence follows his guilty plea for robbing a bank in Tulsa last year.

From Superfan to Convict

Babudar was a popular figure at Chiefs games, often seen on the jumbotron wearing his signature gray wolf mask and suit. His energetic persona helped him build a strong social media following, earning him the nickname "Wolfie."

However, beneath this vibrant exterior, Babudar faced significant personal challenges. His attorneys argued that his criminal actions were driven by a gambling addiction and a troubled childhood marked by homelessness.

Defense and Prosecution Arguments

During sentencing arguments, defense attorney Michael Johnson stated:

"We’re not asking you to be lenient. We’re asking you to consider all of these factors when you determine what is an appropriate sentence."

Conversely, prosecutors highlighted Babudar’s history of violent behavior, asserting that it should influence the sentencing decision. Assistant District Attorney Chris Boring remarked:

"Mr. Babudar has shown no remorse for any of these crimes."

The Tulsa County district attorney’s office sought a life sentence without parole, citing concerns for public safety and the potential for future offenses.

Ongoing Legal Issues

In addition to his recent conviction, Babudar is currently serving a 17½-year federal sentence for bank robbery across seven different states from 2022 to 2023.
