King Charles III and Queen Camilla's Visit to Ottawa

King Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived in Ottawa on Monday afternoon, greeted by warm sunshine and clear skies. The Royal Couple stepped off a Royal Canadian Air Force CC-330 Husky onto an honour guard of Royal Canadian Dragoons at the Canada Reception Centre.

Welcome Ceremony

Prime Minister Mark Carney, Governor General Mary Simon, and other dignitaries welcomed the King and Queen as they stepped off the plane. The King is in town for a two-day visit to deliver Tuesday’s throne speech.

Community Engagement

After shaking hands with well-wishers, the Royals were taken to a downtown Ottawa park to meet community members. At Lansdowne Park, they met with:

  • Ottawa Mayor Sutcliffe
  • Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault

Ceremonial Highlights

The highlight of their visit was a ceremonial puck drop at a youth street hockey game set up for their visit.

"Welcome Home," said Governor General Mary Simon as she shook hands with Her Majesty Queen Camilla upon her arrival at Rideau Hall today.
