Hurricanes Stave Off Elimination with 3-0 Win Over Panthers

The Carolina Hurricanes won their first Eastern Conference finals game in 20 years on Monday night, defeating the Florida Panthers 3-0. The victory came as a result of Frederik Andersen’s impressive performance in goal, where he stopped all shots he faced for his fifth career playoff shutout.

Logan Stankoven scored the only goal the Hurricanes needed to secure their win. "We got a big two points," said Stankoven after the game. The team’s efforts were also bolstered by Sebastian Aho and Jordan Staal, who added empty-netters to seal the deal for Carolina.

This win marks a significant turnaround for the Hurricanes, who had previously dropped 15 consecutive East finals games. They were swept in both 2009 and 2019 but managed to avoid another sweep this time around. Although they still trail in the series, Monday’s victory gives them renewed hope. The Panthers’ offense was largely contained by Carolina throughout much of the game, with limited shots through two periods.

The next matchup is set for Wednesday in Raleigh. If necessary, Game Six will be played back in Sunrise on Friday.
