Tahlequah Girls Track Team Performance at Class 6A State Tournament

The Tahlequah girls track team finished 12th at the Class 6A State Tournament last week, with senior Kaitlyn Johnson leading the way by winning two events and placing second in another.

Individual Achievements

  • Kaitlyn Johnson

    • First Place in:
      • High Jump: Cleared a height of 5-8
      • Triple Jump: Leaped 35-10.75
    • Second Place in:
      • Long Jump: Achieved a distance of 17-9.25
    • Contributed to a relay team that secured third place, alongside seniors Emma Taylor, Emily Wilson, and junior Abigail Smithson.
  • Emma Taylor

    • Earned three medals:
      • Fourth Place in:
        • Discus Throw: 114-7
        • Shot Put: 36-4
    • Participated in two relays that finished in fifth place:
      • Relay with sophomore Olivia Williams, freshman Lainey Brownlee-Smithson, and senior Kayla Goolsby.
      • Relay with Maddie Wilson (sister of Emily Wilson), freshmen Gracie Thompson-Greenwell, and Ashlynn Harris.

    • Achieved multiple top-five performances:
      • Fourth Place in:
        • Pole Vault: Cleared 11 feet without any misses.
        • Javelin Throw: Threw 130 feet.
    • Competed on four relay teams that earned top-five spots:
      • A trio with Kaitlyn Johnson and Kayla Goolsby that took fourth place in the 1600-meter relay with a time of 4 minutes flat.
      • A quartet with Harris, Brownlee-Smithson, and Gracie Thompson-Greenwell that finished fourth in the final mile-relay event, also with a time of 4 minutes flat.
      • A relay team consisting of Olivia Williams, Abigail Smith, Emma Taylor, and Emily Wilson that sprinted to second place in the half-mile relay with a time of 2:05.
