Glenn Softball Team Falls Short in Regional Championship

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Glenn Falcons hosted an IHSAA Class 3A one-game regional championship contest against Columbia City on Tuesday, June 3. A large crowd gathered to support the team, which has built a winner this season.

Lexi Baugher was hesitant to leave the dugout during the game because she didn’t want to miss seeing the crowd. She paused for a second before chasing down a foul ball hit by one of her teammates.

Unfortunately, the Falcons were unable to overcome their opponents and lost 8-3 to Columbia City, ending their season. Despite this loss, Coach Brian Laskowski praised his team’s achievements in building a winner and bringing attention back to Glenn softball after years of being overlooked as an afterthought program at the school level.

"This is what we’ve been working towards," he said.

Laskowski expressed pride in seniors Makayla Laskowski, MaKinzie Kline, and McKenzie Timm, who led the team throughout this successful season. The team’s first sectional title, achieved six days earlier, marked a significant milestone for Glenn softball.

The regional game was also notable because it was the first time Glenn hosted such an event since winning its first sectional title.
