SiriusXM is replacing Michelle Beadle’s radio show, "Beadle and Decker," with a new program hosted by sports media personality Stephen A. Smith. Smith, who currently hosts his own YouTube series discussing topics beyond sports, has signed a multi-year deal with SiriusXM to launch two shows in September. One show will focus on sports news, while the other will cover pop culture and social issues.
Contract Details
- Smith extended his contract with ESPN earlier this year for five more years, lasting through March 2035, at an annual salary of $25 million.
- The replacement show for "Beadle and Decker" will air on the Mad Dog Sports Radio channel, run by Chris "Mad Dog" Russo.
Beadle’s Reaction
Michelle Beadle expressed her surprise at the announcement, stating she had no idea her time slot was being taken until hours before it was made public. She learned about the change when her co-host called her from SiriusXM headquarters in New York City.
"We were all under contract to do our show until further notice," Beadle said. "We didn’t know what further notice meant."
Beadle mentioned that she had been working hard to grow her show’s audience, which airs weekdays from 3-6 p.m., but understood the decision to replace it with a program featuring Smith.
"I’m not naive," Beadle acknowledged. "I know Stephen A.’s brand is huge."
Show Launch Details
Smith’s new program is set to launch in September on the Mad Dog Sports Radio channel, which airs live weekdays from noon-6 p.m. ET / 9 a.m.-3 p.m. PT. It will be available across SiriusXM channels 89 and online.
