Aaron Brewer: A Key Player for the Miami Dolphins

Aaron Brewer, a sixth-year pro center for the Miami Dolphins, has solidified his position in the league. He signed a three-year, $21 million contract with the team last spring. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), he is ranked as the league’s No. 7 center in their latest NFL center rankings.

Performance Highlights

  • Career Best: In his best season with Miami, Brewer posted a career-best 74.1 PFF overall grade on a full workload.
  • Elite Group: He finished as one of just two qualifying centers to achieve a PFF grade of 70.0 or higher in both run blocking and pass protection, sharing this distinction with Creed Humphrey of the Kansas City Chiefs, who ranked as PFF’s No. 1 center overall.

Importance to the Team

The Dolphins have been seeking consistency at their interior line positions since Tua Tagovailoa suffered a devastating head injury against Cincinnati in September 2022. This injury forced Tagovailoa into concussion protocol and led to him missing six games due to head injuries throughout last season.

Miami’s investment in Brewer was likely made with these challenges in mind. Additionally, they signed free agent guard Robert Hunt from Houston during free agency last spring after losing veteran left guard Terron Armstead for all but four snaps over two seasons due to injuries.

Brewer has proven himself to be an essential player for the Miami Dolphins’ success on both offense and defense, especially under heavy pressure from opposing teams.
