Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, or WWDC, is set to kick off on June 9. The keynote address is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time (1:00 p.m. Eastern Time).
New Features for AirPods
According to Apple Insider, users of the wireless earbuds will soon be able to take photos with their connected iPhones by pressing the stem of the AirPods.
Current Capabilities
- AirPods Pro and AirPods (4th gen) already allow users to control their devices with head gestures:
- Move heads forward or backward to answer or decline phone calls.
- Interact with messages and notifications.
Upcoming Enhancements in iOS 26
iOS 26 is expected to introduce additional functionality through head gestures, including:
- Conversation Awareness Volume Adjustment: A feature that allows users to end or extend volume adjustments based on conversation context.
- Sleep Detection: This feature will automatically pause content when users doze off, allowing them to resume where they left off upon waking.
- Studio-Quality Microphone Mode: Originally introduced last year, this feature enhances audio quality for video recordings using iPhones’ cameras. It was removed shortly after its release but is making a return due to user demand for high-quality audio while filming.
These updates promise to enhance the user experience for AirPods and iPhone users alike.
