Brian Harris to Announce College Decision

Brian Harris to Announce College Decision

Four-star defensive lineman Brian Harris will announce his college decision on May 23, following his spring game at Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin. Harris has narrowed down his options to five top schools:

  • Alabama
  • Michigan
  • Oklahoma
  • Penn State
  • South Carolina

He plans to make a verbal commitment before the end of May.

School Preferences

Alabama

Harris has expressed admiration for Alabama’s historic production of defensive linemen. He stated, "Alabama’s historic production of defensive linemen is something that I’ve always looked up to. I’ve been watching their games for years and it’s something that I want to be a part of."

Michigan

Harris appreciates the strong coaching staff and tradition at Michigan. He noted, "I think they have one of the best coaching staffs in the country. They’re very well-organized and they know what they’re doing."

Oklahoma

Oklahoma caught Harris’ attention early in his recruitment process. He mentioned, "They were one of the first teams to reach out to me. They’ve been communicating with me since my freshman year so it means a lot."

Penn State

Family ties within the Penn State program have made it a strong contender for Harris. He explained, "My cousin played there so I had some connections already. But even if my cousin wasn’t there, I think Penn State would still be one of my top choices because their program culture is militaristic in nature."

South Carolina

South Carolina was the first SEC team to express interest in Harris, but he ultimately removed them from his list after they delayed their offer. He stated, "That didn’t sit well with me because all these other schools were offering me earlier than that. So when South Carolina finally offered me later than everyone else did, it just didn’t feel right anymore."
