The Calgary Stampeders are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2024 season, counting on a revamped roster to achieve this goal.
Offseason Changes
In the offseason, the team made significant changes, including:
- Trades and free agent signings.
- Head coach Dave Dickenson has been working tirelessly to bring in new talent.
Key Additions
One of the biggest additions is quarterback "Big-Play V.A." Vernon Adams Jr., who is expected to make his debut as the starting quarterback on Saturday against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Adams is known for his charisma and talent as both a passer and runner, which could bring excitement to the field.
Dynamic Receiving Corps
Adams will be joined by dynamic targets:
- Dominique Rhymes
- Tevin Jones (affectionately known as "The Twins")
The two receivers have been training together since high school and have developed a strong chemistry on the field. They will be supported by other receivers, including:
- Reggie Begelton
- Jalen Philpot
- Clark Barnes
Another player whose return from injury is highly anticipated is receiver ‘Flo’ Orimolade. Orimolade was traded back from Toronto in exchange for linebacker Cam Judge last month. His return will add depth to an already talented receiving corps.
Optimism for the Season
While there’s no guarantee of success this season, Dickenson believes that with these new additions, things are looking up for the Stampeders. He is optimistic about their chances of turning around their fortunes this season.
As for Adams’ performance under center this weekend against Hamilton? Only time will tell if he can live up to expectations, but one thing seems certain: it won’t be boring watching him play!
