Cleveland Browns Quarterback Dillon Gabriel Embraces Learning Opportunity

Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel views the crowded quarterback room as a chance to learn from others, rather than a source of competition. With veterans Deshaun Watson, Kenny Pickett, and Joe Flacco vying for playing time, Gabriel is one of several rookies looking to make an impact.

Learning from Competition

Gabriel sees the competition as a benefit rather than a rivalry among rookies. He believes that he and fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders can learn from each other’s experiences.

"I see it as a benefit rather than two rookies competing for the upper hand," Gabriel said.

Staying Focused

Despite the significant attention Sanders has received due to his high profile and media presence, Gabriel denies feeling resentful. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining focus on his goals.

"I don’t get too caught up in what people say or what they think," Gabriel stated. "I just try to stay simple with my approach."

Valuable Lessons from Veterans

Gabriel acknowledges the wealth of experience in the quarterback room, which he views as an opportunity for growth. He aims to stay grounded and avoid distractions from external factors, such as media scrutiny or comparisons with others.

"We’ve got guys like Deshaun Watson who have been in this league for years," he noted. "We’ve got guys like Kenny Pickett who have been through different situations before."

Flacco’s Experience

Joe Flacco has also played at multiple levels throughout his career, including college football at UConn. He was drafted first overall by the New York Jets in 2008 but was traded on draft night to the Baltimore Ravens, where he spent nine seasons. Flacco later signed with the Denver Broncos before joining the Cleveland Browns after being released by Denver last year.

Optimism for the Season

Despite the presence of many experienced quarterbacks around him, Gabriel remains optimistic about his chances of making an impact this season.

"I’m just trying not to take anything personally," he said.
