Connections is a word game that challenges players to find common threads between four words. Created by Wyna Liu, an associate puzzle editor, the game is available on both web browsers and mobile devices.
Game Overview
In Connections, players are presented with 16 words and must group them into four categories based on their shared connection. Each category has its own unique theme, which can include:
- Logic puzzles
- Types of snow
- Last words of famous opera titles
- Real phrases that start with a certain word
Gameplay Mechanics
- The game tracks player progress using colors that represent difficulty levels:
- Yellow for easy connections
- Purple for harder ones
- Players can make up to four mistakes before the game ends.
Puzzle Solving
To aid in solving the puzzle, players can:
- Rearrange and shuffle the board as many times as needed.
- If players correctly identify all four words in a set within three attempts or less, those words are removed from the board.
Once a set is solved, it is replaced by another until all 16 words have been solved or all possible combinations have been exhausted.
