A 31-year-old Edmonton woman, Kelsey Elliott, is facing serious legal charges after allegedly scamming multiple small businesses in the city.

These charges stem from a months-long investigation conducted by the Edmonton Police Service.

  • Using multiple forms of payment, including:
    • Stolen or defunct credit cards
    • Cheques with insufficient funds

When businesses attempted to collect payment, Elliott promised to send payments via e-transfer but failed to fulfill these promises, resulting in significant financial losses for the affected businesses.

The investigation revealed that:

  • Two businesses suffered losses exceeding $10,000 each due to their transactions with Elliott.
  • The full extent of her fraudulent activities is still unclear, as police believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
