Florida Gators Secure Commitment from 2026 Defensive Lineman

The University of Florida has secured a commitment from Jamir Perez, a defensive lineman from Glenville in Cleveland, Ohio. The announcement was made on Sunday, bringing some stability to the team’s defensive line after recent losses.

Recruitment Overview

  • Perez had been considering several top programs before making his decision.
  • He visited Wisconsin and Cincinnati before ultimately choosing the Florida Gators.
  • Alabama and Ohio State were also among the schools that offered him a scholarship.

This commitment is particularly significant for Florida, as it comes after three pledges were lost earlier in the recruiting cycle. Tampa Jesuit quarterback Will Griffin remains committed to the team as well.

Impact on the Team

The addition of Perez brings much-needed depth to Florida’s defensive line. The team currently ranks No. 73 nationally according to 247Sports composite team rankings for its class of 2026 recruits.

"We are excited about Jamir’s decision," said a representative from UF. "He is a talented player who will be a great addition to our program."

Perez joins Griffin as part of Florida’s current class commitments for next year’s recruiting cycle.
