The Controversial Post
The post in question was made on Thursday and included a picture of seashells with the caption "cool shell formation on my beach walk" along with two numbers: 86 and 47.

- However, Merriam-Webster defines ’86’ as meaning "throw out" or "get rid of," and it can also mean to refuse service. This definition has been used online but is relatively rare compared to other meanings.
Reactions from Officials
Trump administration officials have accused Comey of advocating for violence against President Donald Trump.
- Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem expressed her views during an appearance on CNN’s State Of The Union, stating:
"If you’re going through life without knowing what those two numbers stand for — if you don’t know what they represent — then maybe you need some remedial education."
Noem also indicated that she believes most Americans understand the meaning of the numbers when asked about the potential confusion surrounding them.
Legal Implications
The decision on whether charges should be filed against Comey will ultimately rest with Attorney General Pam Bondi, according to President Trump. However, proving that comments or posts amount to direct threats of violence can be challenging due to the high legal standards required in such cases.
FBI spokespersons declined to comment when reached by NBC News regarding reports that agents were investigating Comey over his social media post.
