Kylian Mbappé Wins Golden Boot for 2024/25 Season

Kylian Mbappé has won the Golden Boot for the 2024/25 season, finishing with 31 goals in La Liga. The Real Madrid forward secured his place at the top of the leaderboard, ahead of Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres, who finished second with 39 goals.

About the Golden Boot Award

The Golden Boot award is given to the player who scores the most goals in a season across Europe’s top five leagues. UEFA uses a weighted scoring system to determine which league contributes the most points towards each player’s total score. In this case, each goal scored by Mbappé in La Liga counted double compared to those scored by Gyökeres in Portugal.

Real Madrid’s Golden Boot History

Mbappé becomes Real Madrid’s fifth-ever Golden Boot winner and their first since Cristiano Ronaldo last achieved it in 2015.

  • Hugo Sánchez won it once for Los Blancos in 1990.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo claimed it three times during his time at Santiago Bernabéu (2011, 2014, and 2015).

Mbappé’s Achievements

In addition to winning the Golden Boot, Mbappé also broke Ivan Zamorano’s record as Real Madrid’s record-breaker for most goals ever scored by a debutant player earlier this month when he hit number 42 against Getafe.

Mbappé is likely to remain one of Europe’s top players going forward and will be looking to add more accolades to his collection next season.
