Mookie Betts, the Dodgers’ star right fielder, will miss some time because of a foot injury sustained when he accidentally kicked off his shoe and stepped on it. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts mentioned that putting on a shoe today was difficult for Betts.
Current Status
- Betts is available to pinch-hit if needed.
- The Dodgers are already dealing with several other injuries throughout their roster, including:
- Shohei Ohtani (out since May 16 with an elbow injury)
- Freddie Freeman (out since April 28 with a left knee injury)
Despite these challenges, the team remains atop its divisional standings with a 34-22 record.
Team Outlook
-
Roberts stated that the team is not considering placing any of its injured players on the injured list at this time:
"We’re not going to put anyone on the IL. We expect him to miss some time."
-
The Dodgers have also lost several other players due to injuries in recent weeks, but the team remains confident in its ability to compete without its injured players:
"We’ve got guys who can step up and play," Roberts said.
Standings
The Dodgers are currently in first place in their division, leading by three games over San Francisco and four games over Arizona, although they have played one more game than both teams this season.
Future Considerations
Roberts indicated that there are no plans for any further roster moves at this point but added:
"You never know what happens down the road."
