Purdue Men's Basketball Kicks Off 2025-26 Season

Purdue men’s basketball held its first practice of the 2025-26 season on Wednesday at Cardinal Court. The Boilermakers are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season that fell short of their goal to reach the Final Four.

Key Players

The team will be led by seniors:

  • Braden Smith
  • Trey Kaufman-Renn
  • Fletcher Loyer

These players have been working hard to prepare themselves for another successful year.

New Additions

True freshman Antione West made his debut in a Purdue jersey during practice, showcasing his skills alongside veteran teammates.

Returning Players

Daniel Jacobsen also returned after missing most of last season due to an injury and is expected to make an impact this year.

Notable Absences

Not all players were present at the practice session:

  • Oscar Cluff, one of the top big men in the transfer portal, was absent as he works on extending his visa.
  • Omer Mayer, a freshman guard, missed out due to international commitments with Israel’s U19 national team.
  • Liam Murphy, a sharpshooting forward, was limited in participation as he gets familiarized with Purdue’s players and system.

Upcoming Game

The Boilermakers will face off against Eastern Illinois on November 6th at Mackey Arena for their first game of the season.
