Sarah Jessica Parker Reflects on Saying Goodbye to Chris Noth's Character

Sarah Jessica Parker has spoken about the emotional challenge of saying goodbye to Chris Noth’s character, John "Big" Preston, on the HBO series And Just Like That. The actor died in Carrie Bradshaw’s arms at the end of Season 1.

"It was hard to do professionally and personally," Parker said. "It was like losing a limb." This sentiment stems from her long history with Noth, having worked with him for six seasons on Sex and the City and two movies.

Parker acknowledged that some viewers were upset by how Carrie Bradshaw and Big ended their relationship. However, she defended their bond as:

  • Romantic
  • Destructive
  • Healthy

Despite its messy nature, she emphasized the complexity of their relationship.

The actress also reflected on her feelings after filming scenes where Big dies in Carrie’s arms, describing it as a feeling of being lost without her co-star. "I don’t know what I would have done if I had not had Chris," Parker said. She praised his ability to bring out different sides of her character through their improvisations together during filming.

Noth played Big for six seasons on Sex and the City before reprising his role in And Just Like That after his death was confirmed by Sarah Jessica Parker earlier this year.
