Spider-Gwen Returns in New Solo Comic Series

Spider-Gwen Returns in New Solo Comic Series

The latest installment of the Spider-Gwen franchise is set to hit comic book shelves this summer, with Stephanie Phillips and Paolo Villanelli teaming up once again to bring readers a new solo series featuring the beloved character. All-New Spider-Gwen: The Ghost Spider follows on from their previous work on the ongoing series Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider, which has been a fan favorite since its launch.

Story Overview

The new series takes place in Earth-616, where Gwen Stacy has been living since her return from death after being killed off during the 2014 "Death of Gwen Stacy" storyline. Since then, she has been resurrected as an alternate version of herself known as Ghost-Spider. In this latest chapter of her story, Gwen is trying to rebuild her life and find a sense of purpose.

Gwen’s Journey

According to Phillips, "Gwen is trying to find her footing in this new reality." She wants to start a rock band with some friends she met while fighting crime in New York City. However, things quickly take a turn for the worse when she faces off against two villains:

  • One that might be connected to her past mistakes.
  • Another that could potentially destroy everything around her.

Villains

Anna Maria Marconi

One villain making an appearance is Doctor Octopus’s daughter, Anna Maria Marconi (also known as Ocktopus), who was introduced last year in Amazing Fantasy #1 by Dan Slott and Mark Bagley. According to Phillips, Anna Maria’s storyline will explore themes of identity and how people are perceived by others.

Sergei Kravinoff Jr.

Another villain featured in the series is Sergei Kravinoff Jr., also known as Klaw Jr., who was first introduced last year by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Juan Ferreyra. This character will provide an interesting contrast for Gwen Stacy as he struggles with his own identity crisis.

Artwork and Themes

Throughout the series, Villanelli’s artwork promises an exciting mix of action-packed superheroics and personal growth for Gwen Stacy as she navigates this challenging new chapter in her life. With its blend of humor and heartbreak, All-New Spider-Gwen: The Ghost Spider looks set to deliver another thrilling installment into one woman’s journey through love, loss, tragedy, and redemption – all while rocking out like nobody’s watching!

Additional Characters

Fans can also look forward to more appearances from other characters such as:

  • Miles Morales’ father, Jefferson Davis
  • Mary Jane Watson
  • Ben Urich
  • J. Jonah Jameson
  • And many more

All-New Spider-Woman writer Kelly Thompson also makes guest appearances throughout issue 1.

This summer marks another exciting milestone for fans everywhere – get ready to dive back into the world of web-slinging heroism at its finest!
