The 2025 NCAA softball tournament has announced its top seed, and Texas A&M will lead the field. This marks a historic moment for the Aggies, as they will be seeded atop the postseason field for the first time.

The team’s impressive performance this season earned them a No. 1 overall seed. Trisha Ford’s squad finished with a program-best 45-9 record, their highest win total since going 47-14 in 2017 under Jo Evans.

"We’re excited about this opportunity," said Trisha Ford of her team’s seeding. "It’s a testament to our players’ hard work and dedication."

As the top seed, Texas A&M will host a College Station Regional alongside:

  • Saint Francis
  • Marist
  • Liberty

The regional competition is set to take place at their home stadium. Ford praised her team for their ability to come together as one unit throughout the season:

"We’ve had some ups and downs along the way," she said. "But we’ve always found ways to bounce back."

The Aggies have been led by standout players such as Sydney McKinney and Taylor Washington on offense, while pitchers Emily Bostic and Emily Williams have anchored on defense. Ford expressed confidence in her team’s ability to perform well in postseason play despite facing tough opponents from around the country:

"We know it won’t be easy," she said. "But we’re ready for whatever comes our way."

The NCAA softball tournament is set to begin on May 17th, with regionals taking place across various locations throughout May before moving into super regionals starting June 1st, followed by the Women’s College World Series from June 6th through June 11th at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City.
