Jeff Sperbeck, a longtime agent and close friend of NFL legend John Elway, died in an accident on April 26 at the Madison Club in La Quinta. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Coroner has ruled that his death was caused by blunt head trauma after he fell from a moving golf cart while Elway was driving.

Elway’s attorney, Harvey Steinberg, expressed sympathy for Sperbeck’s family, stating, "This has been a terrible time for everyone involved. Our hearts continue to go out to Jeff’s family." He emphasized that the investigation confirmed what they already knew: this was a tragic accident. "Sometimes things happen in life that we will never comprehend," he added.
Elway had previously shared his sorrow over Sperbeck’s loss on Twitter, writing:
"I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken by passing my close friend business partner & agent @jeffsperbeck. There are no words to truly express profound sadness I feel with sudden loss someone who meant so much me."
Sperbeck was 62 years old at the time of his death.
