Tragic Loss of Three Siblings in Car Crash

The family of three siblings who died in a crash last Sunday is now planning their funeral, a heartbreaking task no parent should ever have to endure. The children, aged six to 15, were traveling with their parents when their vehicle collided with another car near Renforth Drive and Highway 401.

In a statement released on Tuesday evening, the family expressed their gratitude to first responders and hospital staff who assisted them after the accident. They stated:

“Although we remain utterly devastated, we are now in the process of planning the funeral for our three dear children. For now, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of the first responders and hospital staff who tended to us, as well as members of our community and others who have been extremely supportive.”

Legal Proceedings

A judge has granted prosecutors’ request to maintain publication bans related to two individuals named in documents filed thus far. The names cannot be disclosed due to the absence of a public hearing or trial where evidence can be tested against them.

Police Response

Police Service Board Chairperson Chief Superintendent Peter Sloly emphasized the seriousness with which police take allegations of impaired driving. He highlighted ongoing efforts to increase enforcement targeting drivers under the influence of:

  • Alcohol
  • Prescription medications
  • Over-the-counter substances
  • Illegal narcotics

Statistics on Impaired Driving

According to data from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure released last week, there were over twice as many fatal crashes involving impaired drivers during the first quarter of this year compared to the same period over the previous two years combined.
