Windsor Advances to 4A Final Four

The Windsor High School baseball team has made history this season, advancing to the 4A Final Four for the first time since 2018. Despite a semifinal loss to Golden, the team’s determination and perseverance have paid off, securing their spot in the prestigious tournament.

Road to Success

The road to success was not without its challenges. The team faced stiff competition throughout their journey, but they capitalized on opportunities and made the most of their chances. Their hard work and dedication have earned them a well-deserved place among Colorado’s top teams.

Other Teams’ Challenges

In contrast, other teams that had high hopes for state tournament success were dealt disappointing blows:

  • Fossil Ridge: Made its first-ever appearance in the 5A state tournament but ultimately fell short, losing both games against Castle View and Cherry Creek. Although their inaugural appearance was promising, they were unable to secure any wins during the tournament.

  • Rocky Mountain: Also struggled at the 5A state tournament, losing an elimination game against Arvada West after falling behind early in both games against Legacy.

While these losses are undoubtedly disappointing for Fossil Ridge and Rocky Mountain fans, Windsor’s achievement serves as a reminder that even in defeat, there is always room for growth and improvement. As one player noted after his final game with Fossil Ridge:

"It was tough because we didn’t get it done when it mattered most."

However, he also acknowledged that his experience playing with such talented teammates had taught him valuable lessons about teamwork and perseverance.

Looking Ahead

As Windsor prepares to face Valor Christian on Saturday morning at All-City Stadium in Lakewood for third or fourth place honors at this year’s Class 4A baseball state championships, the team remains focused on making every moment count. They will need all hands on deck if they hope to take down Valor Christian, who won two championships between Class A-3A from 2009-2010 before moving up into Class A-2 (now known as Class A) from 2011-2022, and then returning back down into Class A again last year where they won another championship.

Windsor will be looking forward to seeing what happens next season.
