Penn State’s Yanic Konan Niederhauser, a standout player in the college basketball world, has taken a significant step towards potentially joining the ranks of professional basketball. The Swiss big man has been invited to participate in the 2025 NBA Draft Combine, set to take place in Chicago.

Journey to the Combine

Niederhauser’s journey began at the NBA G League Elite Camp, where he was invited from May 9-11. During this camp, select players were given an opportunity to compete in the combine later that week.

Performance Highlights

  • Scoring: Niederhauser averaged 15.5 points and six rebounds per game over two games at the elite camp.
  • Shooting: In his second game, he went a perfect 6-for-6 from the field, showcasing his impressive shooting ability.
  • Defense: He led his team with 17 points and two blocks in one game, effectively utilizing his large wingspan to deflect several passes and shots.

Decision on Professional Career

As an early entry candidate for this year’s draft class (he is not eligible until next year), Niederhauser is evaluating his options regarding a professional basketball career versus returning for another season under head coach Mike Rhoades at Penn State University.

When asked about his decision-making process, Niederhauser stated, "I’m just taking it one day at a time."
